BECOMING AN ACTOR IN REFERENCIALIZATION

Abstract

This intervention research project, part of a CIFRE thesis in educational and training sciences, explores the participation of firefighter designers (CoFor) in the co-construction of evaluation frameworks. In a context of transformation of SDIS missions and evolution towards a skills-based approach, this article focuses on referentialization as a dialogical and situated approach. The system, carried out in Occitanie, is based on contextualized co-engineering integrating academic knowledge, professional expertise and institutional constraints. Twelve CoFor were involved in the definition of evaluation criteria, indicators and tools, based on their experiences and operational realities. The methodology combines a reflective logbook and thematic content analysis, structured around four axes: interaction between scientific knowledge and professional practices; collective formalization of the framework; emergence of transversal skills; transformation of training and evaluation practices. The results show that active participation promotes the appropriation of criteria, strengthens reflexivity, develops the capacity for self-assessment and supports the alignment between objectives, learning and assessments. The framework, designed as an intermediary object, becomes an evolving and shared resource, supporting, in a hierarchical organization, a more horizontal and cooperative training model. The article emphasizes that this participatory engineering transforms not only the tools but also professional postures, by installing a culture of emancipatory and co-regulated evaluation. It opens up perspectives of transferability to other training sectors where the complexity of situations requires situated and co-constructed systems.
